"It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness, and defeat to find the true soul that lies within. We are Rescue. " (Kathie Sullivan-Parkes)
"Rescuing" a dog isn't hard, helping a dog in need isn't hard, fostering can be hard, but only when they go to their new home.
Regardless of where you live, there is a rescue out there with whatever breed (or non breed) of canine you like that needs help helping the dogs.
Maybe you have some spare time help out at an adoption event; some old towels, paper goods, cleaning supplies or even more time to donate to physical shelters.
Making a trip across a state? Room for a dog in your vehicle? Transport legs are always needing filling.
Have the space to actually foster a dog in your home? That is always a necessity for any rescue or shelter, puppy and kitten season is coming again, and there are always new faces showing up at the shelter with the economic times we are living in.
Have some change kicking around in your couch? get it all together and donate it, many rescues and shelters have collection cans in their lobbies, often have 'chip-in' webpages for sick animals, and will never turn down a donation.
Sit back and take stock of what you have, then know that these pets have nothing until someone steps forward for them.
