----------------------------------------------

Today, one year ago, we started with our first foster, (Stephen T.) Colbert. Abused, feral and wanting nothing to do with us we started working with him everyday, hand feeding at times, and forcing human contact on him by way of cuddling on the couch; can you imagine having to force an 8 month old puppy to cuddle?

So today is his gotcha day, even though we officially adopted him February 8th, just in time for Valentines. Yes he can have 2 anniversaries AND his birthday...he is afterall, a lucky dog.

He has gone from 14 lbs to 22 at his last weigh in. He loves fetch, still makes forts and sleeps with a blanket over his head, he will probably always be afraid of the dark, and yes, we sleep with a night light on for him. He also doesn't like flashlights or laser pointers. He loves his Maxi-poo and leading the pack when it is time for a walk. He still doesn't know sit or stay or down. Not that we have ever really asked him to - maybe we should start... He loves going for truck rides, putting his head right on Donovan's shoulder. He still isn't my biggest fan. He barks when someone comes home and hops around like a rabbit. He snorts and squeaks and snores.

Over the year we have called him Stinky, Moose lips, $hitty puppy, Sheddy puppy, Little boy, Baby puppy, Fussy boy, Fussy lip, Little bear, Bear paws, Stinky McFussypants, Mini-Max, and some lady at the park thought his name was Pooh Bear.

Most of all over the past year, we have loved him.
